Patient Choice

As a patient, you have the right to choose where you receive the care you need.

If you need to go to the hospital for an operation or treatment, you can choose which one you would like to be treated at. In some cases, you may be able to receive treatment or care at a location in the community closer to where you live.

Under the rights of the NHS Constitution for England and the NHS Patient Choice Framework, patients have the right to start consultant-led treatment within a maximum of 18 weeks, unless a patient chooses or it is clinically appropriate to wait longer.

Community and independent providers may have shorter waiting times for first out-patient appointments when compared with other hospitals and local providers in the area. There are a number of independent providers available who have been commissioned to deliver services for Norwich CCG GP practice patients.
